Fund Raising Sale To Benefit the Victims of the Recent Earthquake in Haiti

The artists of Yew Tree Gallery, 604 S. Elm, Greensboro, will sponsor a special exhibit and fund raising sale to benefit the victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti. The exhibit and sale will open on “First Friday”, April 2, 2010 (6:00 - 9:00 p.m.)

Yew Tree artists and some very special friends have donated original artwork and pottery that will be priced at only $50 (plus tax) for paintings and $25 (plus tax) for pottery per item. Proceeds from this sale will be donated to Family Health Ministries www.familyhm.org to assist them in their relief efforts in Haiti. Family Health Ministries (FHM), a non profit, human services organization based in Durham, NC, has worked in Haiti for many years to provide medical services, educational programs, and care for orphaned children. FHM has redoubled its efforts since the earthquake by providing on-site assistance and emergency services to those whose lives have been so affected. A wide variety of art has been generously donated by the artists, including, but not limited to, pieces directly inspired by the scenes and people of Haiti. All items in the special sale will be sold well below normal value to make these pieces affordable to a wide range of art lovers and to those who simply want to help those in need.

Ann Hooker - April's Featured Artist of the Month

Our "Featured Artist" for the month of April is Ann Hooker, one of the charter members of Yew Tree Gallery. Ann creates paintings and drawings in pastel, oil, pencil, and pen and ink. She has exhibited her work at Yew Tree since its opening in 2008, and she has been featured in other galleries and art exhibitions in the Piedmont and Triangle areas.

Ann Hooker's paintings and her special series, “The Children of Haiti”, along with the special sale items will remain on display throughout April. We expect the sale items to sell out rapidly, so for the best selection, interested buyers should attend our opening celebration on April 2.
